Update as of 10:30CST:

Kloppenburg takes slight lead in Supreme Court race

With almost all votes reported, challenger JoAnne Kloppenburg edged ahead of incumbent David Prosser in a tight race for Wisconsin Supreme Court justice that seems certain to end up in a recount.

With 3,625 of 3,630 precincts reporting as of mid-morning Wednesday, Kloppenburg led by 317 votes, 739,381 to 739,070.

Prosser’s campaign didn’t immediately return a message early Wednesday to the Associated Press. However, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported that he told supporters at his election-night party that there was “little doubt” there would be a recount.

Update as of 11:30CST: Court Race May Come Down to the Town of Lake Mills (Count starts 11:45AM CST). Kloppenburg up by 224 votes.

With fewer than 200 votes separating incumbent Supreme Court Justice David Prosser and his challenger assistant attorney general JoAnne Kloppenburg, the election outcome could be affected by the Town of Lake Mills where all the votes have not yet been counted.

Because of problems with its tally seats, the township has not officially reported any vote tallies as of yet to Jefferson County and that means that between 700 and 760 votes have not been entered in the statewide totals for a seat on the state’s highest court.
